Crusaders, this week you will be hearing about all the wonderful things happening at Holy Cross through the lens of Amanda Holzinger, our Kindergarten teacher! We hope you enjoy reading about our school-wide events as well as the special moments and learning taking place in our classroom.

What a beautiful and busy week we had at Holy Cross! It is such a blessing to watch our students grow, not only academically, but also in their faith and love for Jesus.

This week brought school picture day! Our Kindergarteners were especially excited to take their very first school picture in their school uniforms. They arrived looking extra sharp, with fresh uniforms, new haircuts, and those pearly white smiles ready for the camera! It was hard not to smile when we saw how grown-up they looked. These pictures will be a wonderful reminder of their first year at Holy Cross.

October is also a very special month in our Catholic faith because it is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. On October 7, we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In Kindergarten, we have been learning what a rosary is and how we use it to pray. We talked about how, during each decade, we reflect on a Mystery of the rosary and how a Mystery is a special story from the lives of Jesus and His Blessed Mother, Mary. Our students are learning that the Rosary is a beautiful way to honor Mary and ask for her intercession. We remind our little ones that we can turn to Mary and ask her to pray for us anytime and anywhere!

Thursday brought our school-wide vision screenings, helping ensure our students are seeing as clearly as possible so they can learn and grow each day. We are so grateful for our wonderful school nurse, Mrs. Kolakowski, who helps organize these important screenings.

Thursday was also a half day, followed by Parent-Teacher Conferences, with conferences continuing throughout Friday. Our teachers appreciated your prayers as we entered each meeting, asking God to guide our conversations as we shared each child's academic successes, growing skills, needs, and any areas where additional support may be helpful. We are so thankful for the partnership between our school and our families!

Looking ahead, we are blessed with a restful day off on Monday, October 12, the Feast of St. Carlo Acutis. On Tuesday, Kindergarten is thrilled to take our first field trip of the year to a fun farm! After learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin, its different parts, and even dissecting a pumpkin, our students will get to experience the pumpkin farm firsthand. Please keep our Kindergarteners, teachers, and chaperones in your prayers as we travel!

Wednesday will bring a special New Student Breakfast for all of our new students. We pray this will be a wonderful opportunity for our newest Crusaders to meet classmates, make friends, and share in the experience of adjusting to a new school.

What a wonderful reminder that our school year is filled with opportunities to learn, grow, pray, and walk together in faith. May God continue to bless our Holy Cross students, families, teachers, staff, and parish community!

Thank you for partnering with us and staying connected to our school community. We deeply appreciate your support and pray that God’s abundant blessings be upon you and your families this week.

God Bless,
