It has been another wonderful and grace filled week on campus at Holy Cross School! As we launch our new weekly feature for both our parish bulletin and school memo, our community will have the unique opportunity to experience daily life at Holy Cross through the eyes of our dedicated faculty and staff. Each week, a different team member will share insights, blessings, and milestones from their respective grade level. To kick off this reflection series, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our PreK 3 teacher, Mrs. Allen, for offering a peek into the joyful learning and faith in action that filled her classroom and our school this past week.
A Message from PreK 3
Crusaders, I am Mrs. Allen, one of the PreK 3 teachers here at Holy Cross, and I am honored to take the spotlight to share the inspiring highlights, events, and learning happening across our campus and within our early childhood classroom.
On Monday, the Military Kids Club held its first meeting of the academic year. Our young military children in the Early Learning Center were all smiles as they gathered with our school counselor, Ms. Vahey. For those who are new to our Holy Cross family, this meaningful program is co-led by Mr. Latham, a dedicated veteran, and Ms. Vahey. Together, they provide the children of our service members a safe, supportive space to connect with peers, build community, and participate in activities that honor the sacrifices their families make for our nation. We look forward to watching this beautiful ministry grow throughout the year.
As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Holy Cross was aglow with vibrant gold and orange on Thursday for our Tag Day benefiting Aiden’s Wish. Our students generously donated one dollar to support this wonderful charity, which was founded by our very own student, Aiden G., and his family to assist children currently fighting cancer. Aiden is a true warrior and a testament to God's healing grace. As a childhood cancer survivor, he works tirelessly to spread awareness and offer hope to other young patients facing similar trials. We are deeply blessed by the presence of Aiden’s. family in our school community, and we could not be prouder of Aiden’s witness and strength.
It was also a wonderfully colorful week in PreK 3! Our youngest learners enjoyed wearing a different color each day, exploring every hue through hands on painting, creative crafts, engaging stories, games, and special themed snacks such as red strawberries and yellow bananas. In our religion lessons, we focused on the theme My Name is Special, which is particularly meaningful at the start of the year as we form new friendships. Together, we reflected on how our parents lovingly chose our names, and how God knows, loves, and calls each of us individually by name.
Thank you for following along with our journey and for your unwavering support of Holy Cross School. May God abundantly bless you and your families as we continue to walk together in faith.
We pray that everyone enjoys a restful and blessed weekend as we look forward to the week ahead and enter into the month of October.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Allen, PreK 3 Teacher
Mrs. O’Mara, Principal
