It has been another wonderful week at Holy Cross School! Each week, we invite a member of our faculty or staff to share a glimpse of daily life on campus. This week, we thank Ms. Traynor, one of our PreK 4 teachers, for sharing the joy and faith that filled her classroom and our school.
“Hello everyone! I am Ms. Traynor and I teach preschool in our early learning center building. I am excited to share a recap of the week at our school and in my four year old classroom.
Tuesday evening, our HSA held its first general meeting of the year. Families shared ideas and learned about ways to get involved. We are grateful for the time and care our HSA gives to the events, programs, and fundraisers that bring our school community together.
On Wednesday, our Early Learning Center held its first Little Book Club meeting for our four year old students. This new monthly club encourages early literacy and a love of reading. We read Bunny’s Book Club, talked about what it means to be part of a book club, enjoyed bunny cookies, and made bookmarks. The room was full of giggles!
Friday brought our school together for a beautiful Rosary Prayer Service led by Mr. Bauer and his religion students. Our PreK students will begin attending schoolwide prayer services after the new year, but they watched the older students practicing on the field with great interest. They are already looking forward to being “bigger” and joining in this Holy Cross tradition.
In our classroom, we welcomed fall by exploring the changing season with our five senses. We went on a leaf hunt, made tree rubbings, and read a story together beneath a tree. These simple moments help our students slow down and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.
We also welcomed our eighth grade prayer partners for their first visit. Each eighth grader is paired with a PreK student, and throughout the year they will pray, spend time together, and build a special friendship. It is a gift to see our oldest students serve as examples of faith for our youngest students. They remind us that we all belong to one Holy Cross family.
Our letter of the week was T, so we made homemade tortillas with a tortilla press and griddle. The delicious smell filled our classroom, and the students enjoyed tasting what they had made while we read A Tortilla Is Round.
We ended the week with The Oak Inside the Acorn, a story that reminds us God has a purpose for each of us. Even our youngest students have gifts to share and wonderful ways to make a difference. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, God’s plans give us “hope and a future.”
Looking ahead, the Military Kids Club will meet Monday, and Picture Day is Tuesday. Next week is shortened for parent and teacher conferences. Thursday is a half day for students, and there will be no school on Friday.
Thank you for the many ways you support our students and school. May God bless you and your families in the week ahead!"
Yours in Christ,
