Purpose

The Holy Cross School Home and School Association is a support organization and has no role in the establishment of school policies, procedures, and practices. The HSA shall:

  • promote open communication between parents/guardians and the school’s administration, faculty, and staff;
  • promote goodwill, cooperation, and Christian values between and among parents and the school;
  • encourage a sense of community among the school, Holy Cross Parish, all student-supplying parishes, and other relevant organizations by offering activities that assist the educational process by reinforcing the bond between school and home and enriching the wellbeing and safety of students;
  • direct and coordinate parents’ support through volunteerism, social functions, and fundraisers;
  • provide direct financial assistance to Holy Cross School, with the approval of the Principal:
    • to offset operating expenses,
    • to fund new academic initiatives,
    • by purchasing items meeting the identified needs for individual classrooms,
    • to improve the physical environment of the school,
    • by enabling capital purchases that fall outside the school budget, or
    • for other identified improvements or enhancements;
  • respect and support all policies, procedures, and practices set forth by the school; and
  • support any other need deemed appropriate by the Principal.

Fundraising

One of our goals at Holy Cross School is to keep tuition low without jeopardizing the quality of the education we provide. We are able to accomplish this, in part, by holding a limited number of fundraisers throughout the school year. The success of our fundraisers has been and continues to be a direct result of the generosity of our parents, grandparents, parishioners, and individuals from the surrounding communities who want to make a difference by volunteering their time and talent, by sponsoring events, and by giving outright donations.

At Holy Cross School, we are sensitive to the demands that fundraising from other organizations places on our school families and friends. We try to limit our fundraising to those projects providing the biggest value without “nickel and diming” those who are supportive. Therefore, we have different types of fundraising projects. We have those projects that:

  • Provide funds for purchasing wish list items or subsidize school operations.
  • Teach our students the value of Christian charity. We direct the funds from these projects toward a local, a national, and an international non-profit organization. We target one organization during each trimester. This is an important tool for educating our students about social justice.
  • Provide rebates to Holy Cross School at no additional cost to the supporter. Some of the rebate programs in which we participate include:
    • Redner’s
    • Box Tops for Education
