This ministry provides volunteers with training to be a greeter at funeral Masses and requires very little time and commitment, and yet it brings a sense of truly being helpful in alleviating the sorrow of those who mourn. I derive much joy from this ministry as I become more involved. Instead of simply dropping off a dessert for the reception following a funeral, I have surprised myself by being a greeter for funeral Masses, overcoming my innate shyness in order to be helpful.
