Monday - October 26:   Unit 3 Vocabulary Test 

 Homework:

  MATH for 5A & 5B:  None.  We covered lessons 3-2 (Multiplication Patterns) and 3-3 (Estimating Products) today.  I suggested that those having difficulty should practice using problems on pages 46 - 49.  I would be happy to check them on Monday.  Students will need to know the 5 Properties of Multiplication for the chapter test and provide an example of each.  

 Students should practice their multiplication fact families if they do not know them.

  READING for 5A & 5B:    

NO Bunnicula work for homework this weekend.   

To get ready for Monday's Vocabulary Test, students completed page 21 in the Vocabulary WB.  Some students experienced difficulty and were not able to finish.  Those students should finish page 21 over the weekend.  Test will be on Monday, 10/26. Vocabulary words are on Quizlet and Blooket.  You can access these in Google Classroom - Vocabulary.   

Students should be reading for 20 minutes a day.  Only 4 A/R Summaries need to be written on the Google Doc.  The new summary Google Doc is in Google Classroom - Reading.  Document needs to be submitted by 8:00 am on Monday, 10/26.

  MATH for 5A & 5B:  After reviewing for the Chapter 2 math test, the majority of the students felt good about taking it tomorrow.  We went over EVERY concept that will be on the test.  We also practiced estimating using front-end estimation and rounding.

 Homework:

  MATH for 5A & 5B: Chapter Review TB page 38 numbers 1 - 12 all; 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30; 31 - 36 all.   Since this is an extension of the concepts taught in chapter 1, I would like to give the chapter test this week, possibly Wednesday or Thursday.    

We quickly reviewed front-end estimation and rounding to estimate with decimals.  They were tested on this in chapter 1.  Some students could not remember how to front-end estimate.  I suggested practicing on TB pages 36 and 37, and I would check their answers.  There will be one of each (front-end estimation and rounding) on the chapter 2 test.

 Bunnicula Chapter 1 critical thinking questions - answer the last four questions.  Remember to RAC - Restate the question, Answer the question; Cite textual evidence to support your answer.    Many students were missing one or two of the above.  Students should reread their answers to make sure they have included all three.
