Students were assigned their A/R Reading Log for the week - Monday, 09/28 to Sunday, 10/04. Students will need to read their A/R book 4x a week and write a summary. They are welcome to read more if they wish. I went over the expectations of this weekly assignment. I will be checking their progress daily. If they choose not to write a summary all week and wait until the weekend, they will only have the opportunity to write two summaries (Saturday and Sunday). This is an assignment that cannot be done in advance or as make-up. The point is to get them reading on a regular basis.

READING for 5A & 5B: No chapter summary is needed for chapter 13. Tomorrow, students will be finishing The Day the Fifth Grade Disappeared. All students were told they should have an A/R book to read on Monday. 5A and 5B students have library tomorrow, so they can choose an A/R book to read if they are not currently reading one or if they do not have books at home.
SPELLING: Test will be on Friday. Click on 1.1 Word Families: Spelling Words to access the words. They are also in Google Classroom - Spelling. I told the students the priority of the test is to make sure the words are spelled correctly. I am grading handwriting too. BUT for the ones who are printing the words because they do not think I can read their cursive, I would like them to try to write the word in cursive AFTER they print the word. Handwriting receives a Pass / Fail grade, not a letter grade (A - F).
