This past week was a beautiful one at Holy Cross as we continued to celebrate the joy of the Easter season. Throughout our classrooms and across our campus, there were many opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and deepen their faith.

Our students enjoyed several exciting field trips this week. Fourth grade, fifth grade, and seventh grade students traveled off campus for educational experiences connected to their studies. Our junior high band and choir students also had the opportunity to attend the production of Joshua at Sight and Sound Theatre. This is always a memorable experience, especially for students who have a love for music and the performing arts. Seeing the story of salvation brought to life on stage was both inspiring and faith filled.

Our early childhood students were treated to a special on campus experience when one of our faculty members brought animals from her farm to school. This hands on learning opportunity brought great excitement and joy to our youngest Crusaders.

On Wednesday, we held our annual May Retreat Day, which was a truly beautiful celebration in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The day began with Mass, led by our second and eighth grade students. It was especially meaningful to see our second graders dressed in their First Holy Communion attire as they received the Eucharist with our school community for the first time.

Following Mass, our students and staff processed to the statue of Mary for our traditional May Crowning ceremony. Flowers were placed at Mary’s feet and a second grade and eight grade student crowned Mary as we honored our Blessed Mother and entrusted our school community to her loving care.

The retreat day continued with activities centered on Mary. Classes worked together and created flowers, prayed the Rosary, and shared time together in fellowship. It was a peaceful and prayerful day that reminded us of Mary’s example of faith, humility, and trust in God.

On Thursday, students participated in a Memorial Day TAG Day. Dressed in red, white, and blue, they also donated food items to help stock our on campus Samaritan Food Pantry before summer begins. We are grateful for the generosity of our families and for the opportunity to serve those in need.

On Friday, our faculty gathered for a professional development day focused on articulation meetings and planning for the year ahead. We also welcomed many new families to Holy Cross for a special event organized by Mrs. Rachel Barton, our new Director of Admissions and Enrollment. Families had the opportunity to meet one another, shop with our uniform partner, Cramer’s Uniforms, enjoy refreshments, and participate in a faith based craft activity.

Please note that school will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. We look forward to a busy and joyful week ahead filled with field days, field trips, and many special end of year events.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Holy Cross School.

In Christ,
Mrs. O’Mara
