Holy Cross Parishioners Give Presentation to Sixth Graders as part of Catholic Schools Week Community Focus

On Tuesday, January 29th, 2019, ILC Dover Retirees, Jim Clougherty, Tom Corbeil, and Tom Pribanic put the finishing touches on our sixth grade reading and language arts unit about the Universe. Thanks to Mrs. Patty Guido, the three parishioners visited Holy Cross School after Mrs. Guido learned that her neighbor, Tom Pribanic along with Corbeil and Clougherty had worked on the Apollo 11 space suits worn by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin 50 years ago.

Clougherty, Corbeil, and Pribanic hope to encourage the sixth graders to seek higher education and careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, and religion.

After the hour long presentation, students were able to examine and ask questions about the space suits.

Fun Fact! Buzz Aldrin received Holy Communion when the Eagle landed on the moon and the chalice was donated to a church in New Jersey.

What a great way to celebrate Catholic School Week and our Holy Cross Parish community!
