saints project

October 11, 2018

Dear Parents,

Since school has started, we have been learning about holy people or saints. We have listened to stories about these individuals who have striven to live Christ-like lives. To celebrate the devotion of these people, we are going to celebrate All Saints Day on Thursday, November 1, 2018 in a special way at church and in the classroom. The second grade will be dressing like their favorite saints and giving oral reports.

Part 1

Please help your child choose a saint. Talk about this person’s life so that your child can write a few things (3 or 4 things) about the person. Make sure they write WHY they chose this particular saint. Please do not type the report.

Students will write at least two paragraphs about their saint – the first about the person's life and the second about their reason for choosing this person. Why is this saint special to them?

Your child will be asked to orally present their information in the classroom. Please have them practice. It should not be memorized.

Remember, neatness always counts!

Part 2

Help your child make a costume that reflects their saint of choice. The costumes are to be worn into school.

Information about saints is available at several websites and books including:

Butler’s Lives of the Saints

We have some books that may be borrowed as well.
