This week we are reinforcing the Distributive Property with some fun in class assignments and games. Please expect to see homework each night. However,  Monday night they will just need to review the key terms and ideas from their notebooks for an in class activity on Tuesday. Later in the week, in lesson 1.9, we will learn how to break complex problems down into simpler terms to solve.

There are no quizzes or tests in math this week.

Science

This week we are applying key concepts and terms about Mixtures and Solutions in a lab; we will be making SLIME! To say the kids are excited is an understatement. An email went out over the weekend, and a flyer went home today detailing what you child will need to bring. Each student will need to bring one full 8 oz. bottle of CLEAR Elmer's glue. The project will begin Tuesday.

On Friday we have a quiz on the vocabulary words and concepts found on pages 268-271 of the text books. Students may also refer to their notes and quizzlet accounts to help them study. Below is a quizzlet study guide.

Week of 10/2-10/12

Math

This week are are going back to the Distributive Property, it is definitely not the kids favorite lesson, but we are making progress.

Please expect Math homework each day this week, there will be no tests or quizzes.

If while doing homework you find that your child is having a hard time with the Distributive Property  please encourage them to come see me for extra math help during recess on Mon, Wed, or Fri. This is elective, but will give them more time with the concept. Below you will also find a helpful link.

Parents please know, I do not want them sitting over their math homework for hours each night trying to figure it out- that will only cause stress on both you, and them. My expectation is that they try. If they are stuck and simply cannot move forward have them circle/identify the step where they are struggling and I will address it with them them the next day.
