Week of November 6

Vocations Awareness Day will take place at Holy Cross on Wednesday, November 8 for all 6th Grade students in the Diocese of Wilmington. Students are expected to arrive at school by 9:40 and dismissal will be at 1:05 PM. There will not be any bus service, morning or after care on that day. Students should bring their lunch. a drink will be provided.

Week of October 9th

NO SHOOL ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 9

6th - Reading

We are finishing "Mother Fletcher's Gift" and will begin "Viva New Jersey" which is a realistic fiction selection. Students will focus on story elements as well as summarizing the main ideas of this selection. Students will receive new vocabulary words and a spelling list.

6th Social Studies 

We have begun Unit 1 - Toward Civilization - Section 1 -Geography and History. Students were assigned questions at the end of this section that will be discusses in class this week. Students will also be studying timelines to focus on the sequence of events in history. 

7th - Reading

We are finishing a realistic fiction selection and will soon begin to turn our focus on drama. We will focus on the elements of drama by reading "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street"

BOOK CHARACTER BRUNCH

A Book Character Brunch will take place on Friday, September 22. The 6th Grade students will dress as a character from a book they read during their summer vacation. They will present a one minute monologue in class and enjoy a snack with "other characters". Students are looking forward to sharing their character with their classmates!

Week of September 11

The 6th Grade students have done a marvelous job this past week. We are all proud of heir efforts.

6th Grade Social Studies

We are working on the five themes of geography. In class we have take notes on each theme and put together a foldable with notes taken in class.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

It's hard to believe that summer vacation is coming to end. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer vacation. After our Labor Day weekend we will begin the 2017-2018 school year. On the first day of school please bring all your supplies. Sixth Grade students will receive their locker assignments and begin to organize their binders. Schedules will be distributed and explained.

SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th FOR ALL 6TH AND 7TH GRADE STUDENTS. SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A DATE FOR THE "BRUNCH".
